Challenge Ride and Kids Bike Races Encourage Fans of All Ages and Abilities to Hop on Their Own Bikes on World Bicycle Day, in addition to

Watching the ProAm Races

ARLINGTON, VA, May 22, 2023 — The weekend of June 3rd will be a celebration of cycling for all ages and abilities across all of Arlington, VA as the 25th Edition of the Armed Forces Cycling Classic (AFCC), presented by The Boeing Company, kicks off in Crystal City / National Landing on Saturday, June 3rd – which is also World Bicycle Day, and concludes in Clarendon on Sunday, June 4th.

There are many ways individuals, and the community can participate, they include:

Saturday, June 3, 2023 - The Challenge Ride
Crystal City
Starts at 7am, Closes at 10am 

The Challenge Ride is open to cyclists of all abilities, and takes place on Saturday, June 3rd on a course closed to traffic, starting and finishing in Crystal City. Each lap will take participants past the Pentagon, up to Rosslyn, and back. The official start is at 7:00 am on South 12th Street near S Eads, participants can compete as many laps as they can in three hours. The Amazon Corporate Challenge. Companies can enter as part of the Corporate Challenge, where the laps of each companies teams participants are totaled, and the team which completes the most laps is recognized. The Armed Forces Challenge, presented by Aon

Active Duty, retired, veterans, and reserve members of the Armed Forces compete to earn bragging rights as the most competitive service. The service whose participants complete the most TOTAL laps, as well as the most laps completed by their top 6 riders, will be honored and recognized on stage. It doesn’t matter if you are participating as an individual or if you are on a Corporate Challenge team, if you are active duty, guard, vet, retired or reserve, your laps will count as part of this challenge! Saturday & Sunday - June 3 & 4 - Kids Bike Races

Kids 9 and under will have two opportunities to participate for FREE at the 2023 Armed Forces Cycling Classic Kids Races, on courses in Crystal City and Clarendon. The first kids’ race was held in 1999, with just one child participating, but since that inaugural year, thousands of kids have gotten in on the fun! Hundreds will be on hand again this year!

Now in its 25th year, the Armed Forces Cycling Classic weekend’s activities offer riders and cycling fans alike plenty of exciting opportunities to participate.
