General Registration

The Challenge Ride is an amateur, non-competitive, participatory ride, open to cyclists of all abilities. All participants will start and end in Crystal City. The ride will be held on a closed, 15km circuit in and around the Pentagon, Crystal City and the Air Force Memorial. Participants can be challenged for up to 3 hours, as a Standard Registrant, Corporate Challenge Team or as part of Team Sabre. We will also track the performance of all those participating from our military in the Navy Federal Credit Union Armed Forces Cycling Challenge as well as those that work on Capitol Hill, in the USAA Congressional Challenge. You do not have to start at 7:00am, as you can check in up to 8am - it just all depends on how many laps you want to complete by 10am.

IMPORTANT: Please keep an eye on your lap times! We will not allow participants to begin another lap if there isn’t time to complete a full lap prior to the 3 hour time limit. This means that you should not begin a new lap with less time remaining than it will take you to complete that lap. The fastest riders take approximately 20 minutes to complete a lap, so be aware.

We will not allow ANYONE to begin another lap when there is less time remaining than the fastest recorded lap time of the day. At that point, we will send out the pace car, traveling at the pace of the fastest lap, and a shuttle bus, and if the pace car catches you, you will be asked to leave the course or board the shuttle bus, and we will bring you back to the S/F line. It is imperative that we not keep roads closed any longer than our County permit allows.

Navy Federal Credit Union Armed Forces Challenge: The service whose participants completes the most laps, as well as the fastest 6 laps, will be honored and recognized on stage during Sunday’s Men’s Pro race. The US Air Force was the top lap accumulator in 2013 and again in 2014. It doesn’t matter if you are participating as an individual, Team Sabre or a Corporate Challenge rider, your laps will count! So, if you are active duty, reserve or retired, make sure when you Register, indicate which branch you are supporting. You will need to bring a military ID to packet pick-up to confirm your status.

Thales Corporate Challenge: companies and various organizations to participate as teams in the Thales Corporate Challenge. This event, run in conjunction with the Challenge Ride, offers each Corporate Challenge Team a number of ways to compete. Registration fees are based on the number of riders in a team. There is also a $1000 minimum team/corporation pledge. Teams are invited to create their own Fundraising page. The top three fund-raising teams will be recognized on stage on Sunday, following the Challenge Ride. In addition, awards will be given after the ride to the Corporate Challenge Team that accumulates the most TOTAL laps, as well as the most laps accumulated by the top 6 riders on a Corporate Challenge Team.

USAA Congressional Challenge: Fun challenge between the Republican and Democratic parties. Participants must work on the hill (house or senate) to compete in the USAA Congressional Challenge. There is no additional fee to participate, so help your party complete the most laps and win! Participants who are part of the Congressional Challenge will need to list whose office they work in and their party affiliation so we can properly score the lap totals.
